Urgent Appeal to Rescue and to Protect the Rohingya Victims of Genocide

Your Excellency,
Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullah Wa Barakatuh

We due respect, we would like to draw your kind and sympathetic attention, regarding above mentioned matters. The Muslim Rohingya people in neighbouring Arakan State of Burma (Myanmar) are currently facing inhuman tragedies of massacre under the hands of racist Buddhists, who had once occupied whole Chittagong region, are systematically expelling out the Rohingyas and pushing into Bangladesh with clear intention of ethnic cleansing.

We acknowledge that Bangladesh has been sharing unbearable burden with remarkable refugee populations for decades to which the current Government of Bangladesh.

The quick deterioration of the situation since 8th June 2012, after a heinous crime against a young lady turned into racial turmoil with the targeting Muslims by a mob in Taungup Township of Arakan State, and later targeting the Rohingya villagers by ultra-racist Rakhine and Government forces in Maungdaw Township. It spread to all townships in Arakan state.

The situation is more violent, the victims are mostly women, children and elders. Over 2000 Rohingyas are reportedly killed, while more than 3000 Rohingya were severely injured who are unable to get medication to save their lives while rest of the Rohingya people are starving without food and water. Additional 4000 Rohingya people were reportedly taken into deep jungle and burn down into aches, while hundreds were slaughtered and buried across the costal areas even alive.

Currently, around 200,000 are displaced with no homes, food, drinks and any mean of their survival, while hundreds of innocent children, women, elders, injured and vulnerable Rohingyas are floating in the Naff River without food and drinks for days. They are expected for rescuers to save their lives on humanitarian ground.

We have no access to information on what is happening inside Arakan after imposing the emergency act 144 by military (Martial law). Some contacts over the phones told us that para-military and racist Rakhine are burning the Rohingya houses and shot the unarmed, defenceless, voiceless Rohingya civilians when they come out. Some Rohingya were purportedly burned alive. All dead and wounded bodies are taken away by the government forces as well.

News comes out from personal talk of military officer and media that Government plan to kill and clean all Muslims from Arakan state. A confidential information came out from the Ministry of Information of the Burmese Government that to unite entire Buddhist people to clean all Muslims of Burma in order to establish pure Buddhist state from the date of 15/06/2012 (Friday). The information confirms all UN agencies and NGO left from Arakan State.

It is true that most of news media are backed by the racist Rakhine groups and thus the agencies are focusing in accurate information, accusing the innocent Muslim Rohingyas who are totally defenceless and voiceless by all means.

In such condition, rescue assistances from the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). So, Bangladesh cooperation would be highly appreciated for the sake of Almighty Allah. If there is no rescue or no open border, all of Muslim Rohingya in Arakan will be eliminated from the face of the earth. Killing and burning the houses are still going on every day and night. The situation is going from bad to worse. There is no way to maintain silent and to watch the people dying.

  1. We appeal for immediate action to rescue the victims from this serious genocide, ethnic cleansing by opening 176 kilometres range of Burma-Arakan border only to protect innocent people.

  1. We appeal Bangladesh to send Special Mission to massacre areas to control the serious situation in Arakan State and save the remaining Rohingya people as quickly as possible.

  1. We also appeal the Government of Bangladesh to deploy rescue forces across the Naff River and border to save the victims and to recover the dead bodies for Islamic Funerals as quick as possible.

  1. It is very serious and grave situation and urgent need for international intervention to save lives. So, We call on the international media to monitor closely on the serious situation in Arakan.

  1. We urge International Humanitarian group to step up its presence in Arakan State to support humanitarian work, consisting of Emergency Medical Team and Relief Agencies to save the lives of injured and starving people.

  1. We request the Government of People Republic of Bangladesh to allow international agencies to rescue the victims of massacre and to provide meaningful aids and assistances.

  1. We also demand that the Government of Bangladesh must allow the UN Refugee Agency to register the new arrivals in Bangladesh territory in order to control population spreads and to make easier to identify the Rohingya people from further admixture with locals.

  1. We demand Bangladesh to advocate this serious genocide to international community, especially to the UN Security Council to constitute an independent and impartial inquiry commission to investigate the crime against humanity and bring the killers to proper justices.

Sincerely,
